Meaningful Ways to Thank School Staff

No matter where you fall on the political scale, there’s no denying school budgets have been impacted by funding changes. Here are some ways to recognize school staff members – teachers, secretaries, custodians, principals, cooks, nurses, and others – while benefiting your school (and its children) at the very same time.

• Ask for a classroom wish list.
Would a copy of a book benefit students? Are students short on any supplies? This is a direct way to benefit the classroom.

• Consider a contribution to an education foundation in their honor.
Many foundations offer programs that honor teachers while benefiting the school district. Check with yours for details. Here are two programs we know about:
